Anthropic has made Code Review for Claude Code generally available, opening the feature to all users after an earlier limited rollout. The capability allows Claude to analyze pull requests, flag potential bugs, suggest improvements, and provide inline commentary on code changes, positioning it as a direct aid in software development workflows rather than just a coding co-pilot.

What Code Review Brings to the Table

The feature integrates into existing version control pipelines, enabling Claude to act on pull requests automatically. Developers can configure it to review code when a PR is opened or updated, with Claude returning structured feedback on issues like logic errors, security concerns, and style inconsistencies. This moves the tool closer to the kind of automated gatekeeping that engineering teams use to maintain code quality at scale. Anthropic made Claude Code fully autonomous by default earlier this year, a shift that set the stage for features like this one to take on more responsibility without constant human prompting.

Key Facts

  • Code Review for Claude Code is now generally available to all users
  • The feature analyzes pull requests and provides inline feedback
  • It targets bug detection, security issues, and style concerns
  • Integration works with existing version control workflows
  • The rollout follows a broader push toward autonomous coding behaviors in Claude Code

The general availability announcement continues a steady expansion of Claude Code's capabilities. The product has evolved quickly from an agentic coding assistant into something that can manage longer, more complex engineering tasks with less human intervention. Anthropic made Claude Code Auto Mode the default as part of that trajectory, reducing friction for developers who want the tool to act rather than ask for permission at every step.

Code review is one of the most time-consuming parts of the software development lifecycle. Automating even a portion of that process can meaningfully reduce the burden on engineering teams.Industry analysis, developer tooling sector

A Crowded Market, a Specific Bet

Anthropic is not alone in pushing AI into the code review space. GitHub Copilot, which recently expanded its Claude integrations, has its own review features, and several other tools compete in this area. Claude's arrival in GitHub Copilot earlier this year showed that Anthropic is willing to work through third-party platforms as well as its own products to reach developers. Making Code Review a native, generally available feature in Claude Code is a different strategy, one that keeps users within Anthropic's own tooling ecosystem.

The timing also reflects where enterprise software teams are spending attention. Automated review tools reduce the time senior engineers spend on repetitive feedback, and they create a paper trail of issues caught before merge. For teams already using Claude Code for writing and editing code, adding review to the same tool reduces context switching. Anthropic has framed much of its developer product strategy around reducing that kind of friction, and Code Review fits that pattern.

General availability means the feature is no longer gated behind a waitlist or experimental flag. Teams can enable it now and set their own review configurations. Anthropic has not detailed specific pricing tiers for the feature in this announcement, but Claude Code is available through its standard subscription and API access model. Further documentation is expected to clarify configuration options for larger engineering organizations.
